The Sentrel Shower Cleaning and Care Guide

What Every End User Should Know

The Installation Isn’t Finished Until the Homeowner Knows How to Maintain It

Sentrel shower walls in calacatta white

A beautiful shower installation doesn’t end when the last panel is set. For homeowners to enjoy their new bathroom for years to come, they need to know how to take care of it. For dealers and remodelers, a few minutes of client education can be the difference between a five-star review and a warranty headache down the road.

Sentrel shower walls are built to make ongoing care simple. There’s no grout to scrub, no seams to worry about, and no need to reseal anything. But “low-maintenance” doesn’t mean “no maintenance,” and the products your clients reach for under the sink can either protect their investment or damage it. This guide breaks down exactly what to tell clients about how to clean a shower with Sentrel walls, which products are safe to use, which ones to avoid, and how to keep silicone seals performing the way they should.

Feel free to share this guide directly with your clients after installation or use it as a reference when walking them through care instructions at project handoff.

Why Sentrel Is Easier to Maintain in the First Place

Before getting into the specifics, it helps to explain why Sentrel care is simpler than a traditional tile shower. Sentrel panels are non-porous, which means there’s nothing for soap scum, mold, or mildew to grip onto the way they can in grout lines. Because the panels are seamless, there’s no grout to discolor, crack, or require periodic resealing; one of the most common maintenance headaches in a standard tile shower.

Sentrel’s panel imagery is also produced using UV-stabilized, waterproof inks, so the stone-look surface your client fell in love with during the design process will hold its appearance over time. The combination of a non-porous surface and fade-resistant imagery means the shower will keep looking the way it did on day one, as long as it’s cleaned the right way.

How to Clean a Sentrel Shower

Cleaning a Sentrel shower doesn’t require anything complicated. In fact, one of the easiest talking points for clients is this: in most cases, all they need is warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth.

For routine care, walk clients through this simple process:

  1. Wipe down the walls after each use, if possible. A quick squeegee or towel-dry after showering helps prevent water spots and soap buildup, keeping the panels looking their best between deeper cleanings.
  1. Clean the full shower at least every two weeks. This is the benchmark for long-term performance. Regular cleaning on this schedule prevents soap scum and mineral buildup from settling in and becoming harder to remove later.
  1. Use a soft sponge or cloth. Never anything abrasive. The panel surface is durable, but abrasive tools can dull the finish over time.
  1. Wipe down silicone seals during every routine cleaning. Since Sentrel panels are seamless, silicone is the one area that still needs regular attention (more on that below).

This routine is a great one to include in a leave-behind care sheet or a follow-up email after installation. Clients are far more likely to stick with a simple, repeatable process than a complicated one.

The Best Shower Cleaner for Sentrel Panels

Clients often ask what the best shower cleaner is for their new walls, and it’s a fair question. The cleaning aisle is full of options, and not all of them are created equal. The good news is that most common household cleaners work well on Sentrel panels, as long as they’re non-abrasive.

Recommended cleaners include:

  • Fantastik
  • Windex
  • Tilex spray
  • 409 spray
  • Lime-A-Way spray
  • Fabuloso
  • Green Works
  • Spic and Span spray
  • Pine-Sol
  • Simple Green

Any of these, used with a soft sponge or cloth, will clean effectively without putting the panel surface at risk. For most households, warm water and a mild soap will handle day-to-day maintenance just fine. These stronger options are there for a deeper clean or for tackling hard water spots and soap scum buildup.

As a general rule of thumb, any cleaner you use should not be left on the walls for an extended amount of time. Apply the cleaner, scrub with a soft sponge or cloth, rinse clean with warm water, then towel dry.

What Not to Use on Sentrel Shower Walls

This is the part of the conversation that matters most, because the wrong cleaning product can cause real, lasting damage, and in some cases, void the Sentrel warranty. Make sure clients understand these products are off-limits:

  • Abrasive or gritty cleaners — anything with scrubbing particles can dull the surface finish.
  • Scotch-Brite pads or similar scouring pads — too harsh for the panel surface.
  • Magic Erasers — these work through mild abrasion, which can wear down the finish over time.
  • Comet powder or other soft abrasive cleansers — same issue as gritty cleaners.
  • Strong solvents, including paint thinners, acetone, and MEK — these can damage the surface and affect the panel’s appearance.

The simplest way to explain this to clients: if a product is designed to scrub away tough grime through abrasion, it’s not the right choice for Sentrel panels. Stick to the recommended list above, and the surface will stay in like-new condition for the long haul.

It’s also worth reminding clients that using any of these off-limits products isn’t just a cosmetic risk, it can void their Sentrel warranty. That’s a detail worth putting in writing, whether it’s in a care card, a follow-up email, or a printed insert left with the homeowner.

Caring for Silicone Seals

Because Sentrel panels are seamless and non-porous, they eliminate the grout maintenance that comes with a tile shower. But silicone seals around fixtures, corners, and the base of the shower still need attention, since they’re the one component that can wear down over time.

Here’s what to pass along to clients:

  • Wipe down silicone seals during every routine cleaning. This keeps buildup from accumulating and makes it easier to spot early signs of wear.
  • Inspect seals periodically for cracking, discoloration, or separation from the panel or fixture.
  • Replace silicone as soon as it shows wear. A deteriorating seal can compromise the watertight integrity of the shower, which can lead to moisture getting behind the walls.

Staying ahead of silicone wear is a small task that protects a much bigger investment. It’s an easy line item to include in any client care checklist.

Do Sentrel Panels Ever Need Sealing?

This is a question dealers hear often, especially from clients coming from a natural stone or tile background where sealing is part of the routine. The answer is straightforward: Sentrel panels never require sealing. Because the surface is non-porous, there’s no grout and no stone substrate that needs a sealant to stay protected. That’s one less maintenance task, and one less cost, for homeowners to think about over the life of the shower.

This is worth highlighting during the sales process, too. It’s a genuine, practical advantage over natural stone or traditional tile, and it’s an easy benefit for clients to understand and appreciate.

A Simple Cleaning Checklist to Share With Clients

For dealers and remodelers looking for a quick reference to hand off, here’s a condensed version clients can keep on hand:

  • Wipe down walls after showering when possible
  • Clean the full shower at least every two weeks
  • Use a soft sponge or cloth with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
  • Wipe down and inspect silicone seals during routine cleaning
  • Replace silicone at the first sign of wear
  • Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, Magic Erasers, or strong solvents
  • No sealing required

Setting Clients Up for Long-Term Success

The best installations are the ones that still look great years later, and that outcome depends as much on care as it does on craftsmanship. Taking a few extra minutes to walk clients through how to clean their shower helps protect the work you’ve put into the project, keeps the Sentrel warranty intact, and gives homeowners confidence in their new bathroom.

Simple, consistent care is really all it takes. With the right cleaner, a soft cloth, and a two-week routine, Sentrel shower walls are built to stay looking authentic and performing reliably for the long run.
